Brian Faughnan & Cort Winsett get together biweekly and start talking with each other (and with you the listener) about what they’ve been listening to lately. But they’ve got opinions on so. many. things. And not necessarily the opinions you’d always expect from two middle-aged white guys. Unasked for. Unnecessary. Unstoppable?

Episode 37: That's a four-headed boy
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
Thursday Sep 05, 2024
Wherein Cort reports back to Brian on his experience with Neutral Milk Hotel. We dig pretty deep into the band and its lead singer. We also got our first email. Brian discusses his experience with his Random Podcast Generator-suggested episode of Hop Nation USA. Jack White's new album comes up, but Brian ain't no fool. He's not burning a possible listening assignment by telling too much right off that bat. We also talk about one of Cort's guys. Cort is a huge fan of Chuck and the guys break down Zachary Levi's post-Chuck career. There's so much more. Have a listen.

Friday Aug 09, 2024
Friday Aug 09, 2024
Brian discusses his challenging listening assignment. Cort reveals that his heart does not go on for Celine Dion. We eventually admit our first failure to follow through with a listening promise (and how much one of us loves passive aggression). and we become invested in the Song of the Summer.

Friday Jul 26, 2024

Come for the discussion of Fountains of Wayne, stick around for the Random Podcast Generator segment at the end when things go sideways. Shane Walsh was a jerk, but he wasn't a racist. The Argentinian National Football Team sure got into some hot water after their Copa America win though.

Episode 34: Chicken Soup for Breakfast ... for the Soul?
Friday Jul 12, 2024
Friday Jul 12, 2024
Yep, Cort is unabashedly eatin' Spicy Chicken Soup for breakfast. Brian talks about "Hi Ren." Ren Gill, a Welsh singer-songwriter, is a complex and very talented individual and as usual Brian felt the need to go above and beyond the homework assignment and do some extra-credit work for the teacher. Then they talk about one of Brian's favorite podcasts, My Brother, My Brother, and Me. Cort didn't know, but wasn't surprised, that Redbox went bankrupt. There is some chatter about which currently airing TV show just might have the best soundtrack, and of course as always Brian gives Cort an assignment, and they analyze the Random Podcast Generator pick. Come on along!

Episode 32: #AllBangersNoMash
Friday Jun 14, 2024
Friday Jun 14, 2024
In this episode Brian relays his experience with Siouxsie and the Banshees' album Tinderbox and covers the musical highlights of their existence. The guys go off on a tangent about Space Camp. Brian has invented a new game called "Siouxsie Sue, Lucy Liu, or Blink 182!" There's some political talk because of a certain politician's recent trouble with the law. There was also a recent trip to a Decemberists concert that is discussed. And of course they end with Brian's recommendation for Cort and a Random Podcast Generator.

Episode 31: Opening Acts with Harrison Butker
Friday May 31, 2024
Friday May 31, 2024
Cort starts with a review of the new album The Window by Ratboys. The guys discuss the confounding (to Cort anyway) listening approach of letting the music permeate your surroundings rather than focusing intently on each track. Cort's take on this approach won't surprise you, but find out whether the approach changed his opinion of the album. Ratboys are opening for The Decemberists, so clearly Brian and Cort have to discuss the effects of opening acts on concert goers.
From there all hell breaks loose, and the discussion shifts to the commencement speech made by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, which sparks a discussion about the role of athletes and celebrities in public discourse. Brian and Cort also touch on the recent arrest of a golfer at the PGA Championship.
New albums are out from Kings of Leon, Avett Brothers, Cage the Elephant, and Guster. Find out which albums hit the mark and which fell flat.
